    The Mystic Film Festival runs tonight through Sunday

    The Mystic Film Festival, which premiered a year ago, has returned, with things kicking off tonight with a screening of the feature documentary film “The Mamboniks” by Lex Gillespie, who lives in Niantic and is a Peabody-winning producer. “The Mamboniks” traces the rise and fall of the mambo.

    “The Mamboniks” is screened at 6:30 tonight at Mystic Luxury Cinemas, following a red-carpet cocktail event. Gillespie and two mamboniks from the film will be there and will participate in a question-and-answer session after.

    The festival continues through Sunday, with a wide range of films screened at a variety of locations. All told, there are 75 films featured from 10 countries. Workshops and discussions are part of the festivities, too.
