XXXTentacion had talked about the possibility of dying young and what he would be remembered for in a video that was posted on Instagram prior to his shooting death Monday.

It’s not clear when the video was filmed or first posted, but it recirculated after the Broward County rapper was killed during an apparent robbery in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

“If worse thing comes to worst, and I ------- die or some ---- and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life,” the rapper, who was 20 at the time of his death, says in the video.

“If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me.”

XXXTentacion (real name Jahseh Onfroy; stage name pronounced “Ex Ex Ex ten-ta-see-YAWN”) often revealed a morbid fascination with death, depression and suicide through his lyrics and on social media.

He was leaving a motorcycle dealership Monday afternoon when two gunmen ran up to his black, $147,000 BMW i8 and at least one of them fired, police say. The shooting took place at the site of RIVA Motorsports.

Earlier Monday, a post on XXXTentacion’s Instagram page said, “planning a charity event for this weekend Florida!” The rapper grew up in Lauderhill and lived in Parkland.

On Tuesday morning, a makeshift memorial was taking shape at the shooting scene. Fans of the rapper were placing flowers and other items on the ground. Others were writing tributes in chalk on a nearby sidewalk.
