    The sounds of the holiday

    The music of the season echoes through the region over the next few weeks.

    The Chorus of Westerly brings back its Christmas Pops on Dec. 17 and 18, showcasing numbers from “Winter Wonderland” to “O Come, All Ye Faithful” to “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.”

    The New London Community Orchestra will give a free holiday concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in New London.

    The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center is offering something new: a December cabaret series, running Dec. 15-18. It’s programmed by John McDaniel, artistic director of the O’Neill’s Cabaret & Performance Conference, and features vocal luminaries like Liz Callaway and Natalie Douglas.

    Cherish the Ladies stage a Celtic Christmas Dec. 1 at the Garde Arts Center.

    Mystic Congregational Church Women’s Fellowship present “Carols Through the Ages,” with harpist Faith Leitner, on Dec. 13 at the church in Mystic, and the Westminster Youth String Ensemble performs Dec. 4 at the Westerly Armory.
