Songs of the season: Winter Cabaret at the O’Neill
If anything can get you into the holiday spirit, it’s probably the Winter Cabaret Series at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford.
This is the second year that the O’Neill is serving up this series of musical shows, and it kicks off on Wednesday. It’s programmed by John McDaniel, the artistic director of the O’Neill’s Cabaret & Performance Conference who also happens to be a Grammy and Emmy winner.
That Wednesday event features New York cabaret and concert artist Jeff Harnar in “Homeward Bound: Songs of the Season,” where he will perform songs by the likes of Irving Berlin and the Beatles. Christopher Denny accompanies him on the piano.
After that, the Winter Cabaret Series features:
Dec. 14: Christine Pedi, a SiriusXM radio personality and music theater performer, in “Snow Bizness.”
Dec. 15: Debbie and Sam Gravitte in Concert. Debbie is a Tony winner, and her son, Sam, recently played Fiyero in “Wicked” on Broadway.
Dec. 16: Darius de Haas, who has performed everywhere from Broadway to Carnegie Hall, in “Let Me Carry You This Christmas.”
Dec. 17: Karen Mason, who has starred in “Sunset Boulevard” and “Mamma Mia!” on Broadway, and John McDaniel in “We Need a Little Christmas!”
Winter Cabaret Series, Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, 305 Great Neck Road, Waterford; all performances will take place at 7 p.m. in the Rufus and Margo Rose Barn Theater; general admission tickets are $40, and table seating is available at a higher price; theoneill.org/wintercab.
