Then came Dionne: Warwick sings at the Garde
It was only last month that Dionne Warwick was honored as part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, receiving the Musical Excellence Award.
And now she is coming to New London. She’ll perform in concert at the Garde Arts Center on Thursday.
That follows up on a lifetime of honors for the now-83-year-old icon. She’s earned a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Kennedy Center Honor.
And she went viral for her Twitter commentary, inspiring an ongoing “Saturday Night Live” sketch.
But since she’ll be singing at the Garde, let’s talk about her hits. They are plentiful and span decades, from “Walk on By” and “I Say a Little Prayer” to “Déjà Vu” and “Heartbreaker” to her collabs on “Then Came You” and “That’s What Friends Are For.” In other words, it’ll be a setlist jammed with songs you know well.
Dionne Warwick, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $49 to $129; gardearts.org, (860) 444-7373.
