The Wizards of Winter play the Garde Friday
If the photos of the holiday rock opera “The Christmas Dream” are any indication, this is one visually dramatic production. The smoke! The lights! The confetti!
But let’s not forget the music. That is, after all, the basis for this extravaganza.
The Wizards of Winter, who stage “The Christmas Dream,” boast 11 musicians who have performed with all sorts of classic rock icons, from Alice Cooper to Def Leppard. And some have played with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which is particularly relevant considering the Christmas-y focus here.
“The Christmas Dream” is based on the Wizards of Winter’s album of the same name, and their self-titled and “Magic of Winter” CDs.
“The Christmas Dream” sweeps into the Garde Arts Center for a performance Friday. Expect a big, holiday-celebrating time.
Wizards of Winter, 8 p.m. Friday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $29-$65; (860) 444-7373, gardearts.org.
