Florida police probe death at home of Colchester physical therapists

Police in Celebration, Fla., are investigating a death at the home of a couple who also own a Colchester physical therapy practice.

According to Florida public records, Anthony and Megan Todt had received a summons for eviction from their home at 202 Reserve Place in Celebration that was filed Dec. 22.

That is the site of the investigation that was being conducted Monday by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Russ Gibson offered a short statement to the media Monday about the case.

"This morning at 9 a.m., the Osceola sheriff's office deputies responded to 202 Reserve Place in Celebration in reference to a death investigation," Gibson said. "Detectives and crime scene investigators are on-scene and are at the very beginning stages of the investigation. This is an isolated incident, and all parties involved with this death investigation are accounted for. As this investigation develops and more information becomes available, we will provide you with updates as quickly as we possibly can."

Police have not revealed how many people died. WESH Channel 2, a television station serving Orlando, Fla., reported that a man was arrested at 202 Reserve Place. WESH Reporter Amanda Dukes wrote on Twitter that "one neighbor said they had called police after not seeing the family's children for several days."

The Orlando Sentinel reported that a neighbor, Marcelo Rodriguez, "said he saw a man who lived there in handcuffs outside the home. He said the man lived with his family, including three young kids."

A Facebook group started this month by Todt family members called "Looking for the Todt Family," has been seeking details from people on where the Todts may be.

"We are looking for the last time anyone has heard from Tony, Megan and the kids," the Facebook group description read. "Please let us know if you have."

Facebook group administrator Kendra Justice posted early Monday evening "that 4 bodies have been found (not identified) in Celebration, Florida today. Tony is at the hospital. We have no further details and we will update you when we know more. Please pray for the family."

    The Todts have three children.

Celebration, a community of 7,500 near Disney World, was developed by Disney in the mid-1990s as a community meant to hark back to small-town America of the mid-20th century.

On LinkedIn, Anthony Todt lists himself as the owner of Family Physical Therapy, which has locations at 7 Park Ave., Suite 4, and 744 Middletown Road in Colchester. Megan Todt is listed as a physical therapist on the business's website. According to state records, Anthony Todt, whose address is listed as Celebration, did not renew his physical therapy license, which expired Sept. 30, 2019. Megan Todt, whose address is listed as Kissimmee, Fla., holds a valid physical therapy license in Connecticut.

In 2017, the Todts sold a home at 222 Waterhole Road for $348,000. Colchester First Selectman Mary Bylone posted a statement on Facebook related to the Todts and the investigation in Florida.

"The news reports out of Celebration, Florida, regarding a Colchester family are shocking and heartbreaking," the statement read. "While there is much we do not know at this time, I know that the thoughts and prayers of our entire community are with the relatives and friends of the family involved."

On Monday night. St. Andrew Church in Colchester posted a message on Facebook asking for prayers for the Todt family.
