Groton Town police make arrest in 2020 shooting
Groton _ Town police on Monday announced an arrest in connection with a 2020 shooting.
Raashid N. Cox, 32, with a last known address of 365 Jefferson Ave. in New London was charged Monday with first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Cox was held on a $250,000 bond and was arraigned in New London Superior Court Tuesday.
Police, in a statement, said the arrest stems from an Oct. 4, 2020 report from Lawrence + Memorial Hospital of a 27-year-old who arrived in the emergency department with a gunshot wound to his arm. Police said they determined the shooting occurred during an altercation at the Midnight Hookah Lounge at 403 Pleasant Valley Road South in Groton earlier in the morning.
Police developed Cox as a suspect and he was located by the Department of Corrections Parole Division. Public records show Cox has two past felony convictions for criminal possession of a firearm and sale of a controlled substance.
