New London ― Police on Monday identified the man who died from an apparent fall from the Water Street parking garage as 63-year-old Michael Naphen of New London.

At 12:52 p.m. on Sunday, police and medical personnel responded to the city-owned parking garage for reports of a man who may have jumped off the top level of the garage.

Naphen, of 43 Stuart Ave., was found unconscious and unresponsive and later pronounced dead at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

Police said the investigation into Naphen’s death remains active. The cause of death has not yet been determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
