Accused drug dealer faces new charge in East Lyme

East Lyme ― Police on Monday charged a Colchester man with supplying the fentanyl that led to a near-fatal overdose here last summer.

Zachary Hast, 32, of 227 Dr. Foote Road was served with a warrant charging him with sale of narcotics. He was served during his scheduled appearance on previous drug charges in New London Superior Court.

Hast remains held on a a $150,000 bond at the Corrigan Correctional Center stemming from a Nov. 7, 2022 arrest when East Lyme police said he was found in possession of fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine and prescription narcotic pills. Hast, in that case, was charged with seven counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell, five counts of possession of a controlled substance, operating a drug factory and seven counts of possession of weapons in a motor vehicle.

The newest charge stems from a continuing investigation by East Lyme police with assistance from the Norwich and Groton Town police departments. Hast was held on an additional $100,000 bond on the newest charge.
