Woman charged with felony assault in Griswold
Griswold ― A 32-year-old local woman is facing felony assault and other criminal charges for allegedly stabbing and then striking a woman with her vehicle.
Coral M. Lane of 1 Richard Ave. in Griswold was charged Saturday with two counts of first-degree assault, disorderly conduct, first-degree threatening and second-degree reckless endangerment.
Lane, who is free after posting a $250,000 bond, was arrested following an investigation by the Jewett City Resident State Trooper’s Office. Police said the 52-year-old victim in the case was hospitalized with knife wounds and broken bones stemming from two different assaults that occurred following a dispute in Griswold on Jan. 27. Police said Lane stabbed the victim when the victim tried to break up a fight between Lane and another individual.
In another encounter at a different location on the same night, police said the victim was exiting a vehicle when she saw Lane driving a vehicle at her. The victim told police she threw an empty bottle at Lane’s vehicle but was hit by the front corner of Lane’s vehicle. The victim told police she did not want Lane arrested.
Lane is due to appear May 3 in Norwich Superior Court.
