Driver trapped overnight in Taftville crash found in life-threatening condition
Norwich ― Crews from Taftville and Occum fire departments, along with Hartford HealthCare paramedics, on Monday morning extrication a driver who was trapped overnight in a car after it crashed on the S-curve of Route 97.
The Taftville Fire Department in a news release said emergency medical technicians from the department arrived just after 9 a.m. Monday to find the driver in life-threatening condition after being caught between the seat and the dashboard. The car was in a large pile of rocks on the side of the road.
The department said it took crews about 19 minutes to remove the driver, who was then taken by ambulance to Backus Hospital in Norwich.
Late Tuesday afternoon, Taftville Fire Department Chief Timothy Jencks said his department has not been updated on the driver’s condition.
