East Lyme ― Police said they arrested a local man Wednesday after they saw a video of him slapping an 11-month-old child “forcibly on the back,” and throwing the child onto a bed.

Matthew Morrissette, 38, of 3 Rathbun Road, Apt. 2., was charged with intentional cruelty to a minor, risk of injury to a minor and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Madison Police took Morrissette into custody after East Lyme police obtained a warrant for his arrest. The warrant stemmed from an East Lyme police investigation after they saw the video, according to a police report.

Morrissette was arraigned Thursday in New London Superior Court.
