More than 200 grams of fentanyl, crack seized during Norwich drug arrests

Norwich ― Police arrested two residents on narcotics-related charges after they seized 211 grams of fentanyl, 23.2 grams of crack cocaine and a significant amount of cash during a motor vehicle stop on Thursday.

Bennie Gray, 45, of 25 Mechanic St., was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and two counts of possession of narcotics.

Heather Poplasky, 36, of 101 Elizabeth Street, Apt. A, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, the car and a house on Geer Avenue were under surveillance by the Connecticut State Police Violent Crime Task Force and city detectives, as part of an investigation into narcotic activity that had been prompted by “several complaints from citizens.”

During surveillance, police said they “observed narcotic-related activity.” Officer Matthew Goddu and his narcotic K-9, Carlton, responded to the scene and alerted the officers to the presence of the narcotics, police said.
