Groton ― State police on Tuesday identified the victims in Friday’s fiery fatal crash on Interstate 95 in Groton as two New London residents.

Timothy I. Montague, 36, and Lori Lynn Botero, 34, both sustained fatal injuries when the pick-up truck they were in ran off the left side of the Exit 87 exit ramp from the northbound side of I-95.

The 2019 Dodge Ram pickup truck, which is registered to Montague, collided with a guardrail and a tree, caught fire and was engulfed in flames, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
