Three, including child, seriously injured after Norwich crash
Norwich – Three people, including a child, suffered life-threatening injuries Friday after their car struck several trees, fire officials said.
At 6:18 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to a section of Taftville-Occum Road where a car had veered into two, 20-foot trees before spinning and crashing backward into another tree, Taftville Fire Company officials said in a Facebook post.
Two of the three passengers were able to escape the car on their own. A third victim was extricated from the vehicle after 18 minutes by firefighters using rescue ropes and other devices.
All three victims were initially transported to Backus Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two were later transferred to Hartford Hospital and the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
The crash is under investigation by the Norwich Police Department.
