Two charged in spree of car break-ins in Stonington
Stonington ― Police arrested two men Wednesday in connection with a spree of car break-ins in town and one car theft in Pawcatuck.
Police said they received reports of the break-ins from several residents on Moss Street at about 3 a.m. Wednesday. Deputy Police Chief Todd Olson said two men were entering unlocked vehicles.
Arriving officers apprehended one man but the second man fled and was later discovered to have stolen a car from Stanton Street. Surprisingly, Olson said, the man returned the car to the owner’s residence and stole a bicycle.
The man was found Wednesday morning and taken into custody. The names of the two men arrested were not immediately available.
