Man wanted in Tennessee is nabbed in Old Lyme
Old Lyme ― Police on Tuesday arrested a Mississippi man who is wanted on a host of out-of-state rape and child sexual abuse charges.
Kody T. Stewart, 30, of Lamar, Miss., was arrested at an undisclosed address on Grassy Hill Road. State police said Stewart is wanted by authorities in Tennessee on numerous criminal charges, including continuous sexual abuse of a child, sexual contact with a minor, attempted rape of a child, five counts of aggravated sexual battery and eight counts of rape of a child.
Stewart was charged as a fugitive from justice and additionally charged with risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment. Stewart’s arrest was the result of an investigation by Old Lyme police, state police, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry’s Criminal Warrants Division.
Stewart was held on a $500,000 bond on the Tennessee charges and an additional $10,000 on the Connecticut charges. He was due to be arraigned Wednesday in New London Superior Court.
