    Firefighters extinguish fire outside New London apartment

    New London ― City firefighters on Tuesday extinguished a fire outside a Huntington Street apartment complex, stopping it before it caused major damage to the building.

    The fire at 187 Huntington St. was reported at 4:17 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and a fire on the ground outside the building that had extended to the building, Battalion Chief Mark Waters said.

    No injuries were reported and no residents were displaced.

    The fire was reported under control within about 15 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
