Police charge woman in connection with beating of man in Groton
Groton ― Groton City police on Wednesday arrested a 20-year-old local woman who they say played a role in the October beating of a man outside the Branford Manor apartment complex.
Alana M. Gilman, 20, of 261 Norwich Ave., was charged by warrant with accessory to first-degree assault and interfering with police. Gilman, who was arraigned in New London Superior Court on Wednesday, was released on a $100,000 bond and is due to back in court on Dec. 11.
On the night of Oct. 10, police said Gilman drove three people to the parking lot of Branford Manor. The trio — two men and one juvenile — punched, kicked and used a stun gun on a man following a confrontation, police said.
The victim suffered multiple injuries that included a fractured skull and cheekbone, police said. Police said they have identified others involved in the assault. No other arrests have yet been made.
