Two arrested in New London after investigation into heroin sales

New London — City police announced Monday that in a joint effort with state police they arrested two people on multiple drug-related charges, including sale of narcotics.

Stephanie Fialco, 29, of 11 Fort Hill Road, Groton, was charged Monday with possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics and possession of marijuana.

Brian Rodriguez, 26, of 192 Shaw St., Apt. 2, was charged Monday with possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, members of the New London Police Department Vice and Intelligence Section along with members of the state police Narcotics Task Force - East carried out a search and seizure warrant at Rodriquez's apartment on Shaw Street around 12:54 p.m. Monday.

The warrant, police said, is the result of a month-long investigation into the alleged sale of heroin by Fialco and Rodriguez.

Police said they located an unspecified amount of heroin, 61 prescription "Oxycodone" pills, marijuana, $1,024 in cash and drug paraphernalia relating to the sale of narcotics during the search.

Police said they sent the seized heroin to a state lab to be priority tested to see whether it's connected to the recent string of heroin overdoses in the New London area.
