Norwich man arrested after woman jumps from moving car

Sprague — A Norwich man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly drove so erratically, a female passenger jumped from the vehicle he was operating.

Adam K. Hill-Dupont, 44, of 10 Woodlawn Terrace was charged Tuesday with evading responsibility, failure to submit to fingerprints, disorderly conduct and second-degree reckless endangerment.

According to state police, Hill-Dupont and the female, while both in the vehicle, were arguing as Hill-Dupont drove on or near Routes 207, 97 and 138 in Baltic. Police said they determined that Hill-Dupont at one point struck a metal beam guardrail on Route 138 near Route 97 and refused to stop driving.

Fearing for her safety, the female then jumped from the moving vehicle as it was traveling about 30 mph, according to police. Police learned of the incident at 10:14 p.m., when a Sprague resident reported the female had knocked on the door and asked the resident to call police.

Police said they later located Hill-Dupont in Griswold, where he was driving the female's vehicle. They said they observed new damage along the passenger side of the vehicle.

Police took Hill-Dupont into custody without incident and transported him to Troop E in Montville, where they said he refused to submit to fingerprinting.

Arraigned Wednesday in Norwich Superior Court, Hill-Dupont was released from custody on a promise to show up for his next court date, which is scheduled for July 12.
