East Lyme — A multiple-vehicle crash closed the left lane of Interstate 95 north between exits 74 and 75 for about 45 minutes Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation.

A DOT traffic camera showed four vehicles that appeared to have been involved in the wreck. They looked to have front and/or rear end damage.

The crash occurred about 12:45 p.m. just one exit prior to construction work that began at 11 a.m. The work, occurring between exits 76 and 81, was slated to last until 3 p.m.

At its worst, traffic was backed up more than two miles. The highway cleared up by 2 p.m.
