Ledyard police respond to rollover crash, find no one on scene

Ledyard — Police on Friday morning launched an investigation after they came across a car on its roof that had no one inside.

According to Lt. Ken Creutz, police were alerted to the flipped car off Rose Hill Road about 9:30 a.m., when a passerby spotted it. The car was located near the Preston town line.

Upon discovering no one was inside the vehicle, police called a K-9 unit to attempt to track the driver. Creutz said the track lasted only a short distance, indicating the driver had been picked up by someone.

Because the plates affixed to the car aren’t registered to it, police are using the vehicle’s identification number to track down more information.

Police continue to seek the operator of the car.
