Woman hospitalized after armed men invade Groton home

Groton — One woman was hospitalized Wednesday night after two masked men entered her Buddington Road home, beat her with a baseball bat and stole gaming systems, cellphones and cash, according to town police.

Police said officers at 9:56 p.m. went to Lot 16 of 91 Buddington Road for a reported home invasion. They learned from occupants of the home that two men had entered with a baseball bat and a firearm.

While one of the men repeatedly struck the female victim with the bat, police said, the other held other occupants of the home at gunpoint.

The female victim told police she heard one of the suspects refer to the other as “Alec” or “Alex” during the crime. She described the men as being thin and told police they were wearing dark clothing.

Police said the two men left the residence on foot. A K-9 unit tried to track the men, but had no success.

Crews took the woman to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.
