    State police investigating armed robbery at Jewett City gas station

    Griswold — State police detectives are investigating an armed robbery that took place at a Jewett City gas station Wednesday night.

    According to a release, troopers from Troop E in Montville responded to a report of an armed robbery at Bestway, 211 N. Main St., about 6:11 p.m. The clerk reported a male suspect held up a black gun and demanded money. No injuries were reported.

    The man fled on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, and troopers and state police K-9 teams searched the area but did not find the suspect. Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad also responded and have taken over the investigation.

    The suspect has been described as a heavily built Hispanic male about 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a dark hoodie and a red bandanna on his face.
