    New London man faces drug, gun possession charges

    New London — Police arrested a man on numerous charges following a raid Wednesday at his Hempstead Street apartment, where police said they seized prepackaged heroin, a stolen handgun and cash, among other items.

    City narcotics officers had joined with members of the state police Statewide Narcotics Task Force on Wednesday to execute a search and seizure warrant at 40 Hempstead St., Apt. 2.

    As a result, police said they found 23 grams of heroin packaged for street-level sales, two Suboxone tablets, a stolen Taurus 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, 9 mm ammunition, drug paraphernalia and $2,937.

    Mateen Haskins, 27, was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Further information was not immediately available.
