Route 184 reopened in Groton after two-car crash

Groton — A two-car crash Monday on Route 184 at the intersection with Flanders Road sent both drivers to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with serious but unspecified injuries.

The noontime crash closed Route 184 for several hours in both directions. No other passengers or vehicles were involved.

"The names of the occupants are not being released at this time and their conditions are not currently available," according to a release from the Groton Town Police Department emailed Monday night.

Personnel from the Groton Town Police Department, Old Mystic Fire Department, Center Groton Fire Department, Poqunnock Bridge Fire Department and Groton Ambulance and medics from L+M responded to the crash.

The road was reopened around 4 p.m. after an investigation conducted by the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Traffic Unit.
