Accidents slow traffic on I-95
New London — A one-car crash on the southbound side of the Gold Star Memorial Bridge has been cleared but traffic on Interstate 95 south remains slow as a car went off the highway between exits 89 and 88.
The state Department of Transportation said the crash on the bridge happened not long before 6:30 a.m. and initially left one lane closed. By 7 a.m., all lanes had reopened, but traffic congestion remained.
The bridge is operating with fewer lanes than usual because of ongoing construction.
Shortly before 10 a.m., a tow truck was removing the car that went off the road between exits 89 and 88.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 2 p.m. The New London area could receive up to 4 inches, most of it before noon.
