Salem — State police divers on Thursday found Thaxton Kaye, a 35-year-old Salem man who had been reported missing the day before, dead in a body of water at Renz Quarry, police said.

There does not appear to be a criminal aspect involved, according to police.

About 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, state police troopers responded to the area of 160 Witch Meadow Road for a report that Kaye was missing. Personnel from the state police K-9 unit conducted a search with negative results.

Divers found Kaye's body on Thursday, and the investigation is ongoing.
