    Police: Two women found unconscious with baby on New London church steps

    New London — New London police arrested two women Saturday after a receiving a report of two people passed out with an infant child on the steps of a local church, according to a police department news release.

    Officers responded at 12:38 p.m. to the front steps of Apostolic Cathedral of Hope Church at 157 Green St., where they found two women unconscious and an infant awake in a stroller next to them, the release said.

    Both women displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and hallucinogens and eventually were brought back to consciousness after efforts by the officers, the release said.

    Jennifer Jarvis, 33, of 325 Huntington St., and Ashley Papski, 30, of 36 Willetts Ave., Apt. 3, each were charged with possession of a hallucinogen, the release said. Papski, the mother of the child, additionally was charged with risk of injury to a minor, the release said.

    Further investigation resulted in the officers finding and seizing K2 and drug paraphernalia, the release said. The Department of Children and Families was contacted and took custody of the infant.
