Head-on crash in Old Lyme sends motorcyclist to the hospital

Old Lyme — A head-on crash occurred Saturday afternoon between a motorcyclist and SUV on Route 156.

The crash injured the motorcyclist, Allen Blake, 24, of Glastonbury. He was flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital, according to state police.

Meanwhile the driver of SUV, Syhamai Nardi, 65, and his passenger Bali Nardi, 55, both of Temple City, Calif., did not appear to sustain any injuries, although they were transported via ambulance for precautionary reasons, said police.

The crash, which occurred at 4:18 p.m. near the intersection on Tantummaheag Road, is under investigation.
