Delays remain after 3-car crash on Gold Star Bridge
New London — Traffic was moving slowly over the Gold Star Memorial Bridge Wednesday afternoon even after crews cleared a three-car crash on the southbound side.
The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. about half a mile before Exit 84. Crews at one point closed two of the bridge’s four operational lanes. By 3:30 p.m., all four lanes were open.
Traffic was congested back to Exit 88 in Groton.
An analysis by The Day found the bridge has seen three times more wrecks since construction began in April last year.
