Firefighters rescue toddler from ductwork of Waterford home
Waterford — Firefighters on Tuesday rescued a 14-month-old child who fell into the ductwork of a Woodbine Street home, Goshen fire Chief Todd Patton said.
Patton said Goshen, Jordan and Cohanzie firefighters went to 4 Woodbine St. about 7:30 a.m., where they learned the child had removed a grille and fallen about 14 feet into the crawl space.
Using radios, a reciprocating saw and other hand tools, firefighters extricated the child within about 20 minutes, Patton said. Police and Lawrence + Memorial paramedics also were on scene.
Crews took the child to the hospital for a check-up, but Patton said the child appeared to have just a few scratches.
“All the people involved, paid and volunteer, worked well together,” Patton said. “This is a great outcome.”
