Groton — Town police have charged an 18-year-old woman with stabbing another woman Tuesday evening near the intersection of Flanders Road and Gold Star Highway.

Police said both the suspect and the victim were driving prior to the 5:36 p.m. stabbing. The suspect, Nateya Linton, saw the victim in another part of town and began following the victim’s vehicle.

Police said both women were stopped at a red light when they exited their vehicles. When the victim returned to her vehicle, police said, Linton followed her, reaching through an open window to stab her in the arm with a “sharp instrument.”

Police said Linton made threats, then left the scene. A town officer located and arrested Linton at 6:08 p.m. on Poquonnock Road near High Rock Road.

Treated on scene by Old Mystic firefighters, the victim was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Linton, of 247 Poquonnock Road, Apt. A2, was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening and second-degree harassment.

Held on a $25,000 bond, Linton was due Wednesday in New London Superior Court.
