Woman had four bags of fentanyl, New London police say

New London — City narcotics officers arrested a Willimantic woman on Friday on drug charges after police said they seized a quantity of the powerful opioid painkiller fentanyl.

The arrest was made early Friday morning in the parking lot of 165 Broad St. The New London police officers were assigned to a quality-of-life patrol initiative to address illicit drug activity in the city.

Shannon McNamara, 45, of 423 Windham Road, Willimantic, faces charges of possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Police said the 2.9 grams of pure fentanyl seized in conjunction with the case was in four knotted plastic baggies.
