Two unlocked cars stolen from Groton City residence
Groton — Two unlocked cars were stolen from a residence near Eastern Point Beach on Friday morning, and city police said they’ve identified one suspect who also is believed to be involved in several other car thefts across the state.
Detective Sgt. Travis Winkelman said both cars were unlocked and were taken at the same time. Police haven’t yet identified a second suspect and have recovered just one of the cars.
Winkelman said an officer patrolling the beach attempted to stop one of the cars but didn’t pursue the vehicle when it didn’t stop.
Citing the ongoing investigation, Winkelman declined to name the road from which the cars were taken.
Police are working with several other departments to develop a case against the suspect.
