North Stonington — A Pawcatuck woman, flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital after she was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene Tuesday, died of her injuries early Wednesday, state police said.

Police said the vehicle — a dark, possibly gray, mid-size SUV — was traveling west on state Route 2 near state Route 184 when it left the roadway about 7 p.m. and struck 25-year-old Krystal Riske, who was walking on the right shoulder.

Police said the evading driver’s vehicle has damage to its passenger side headlight and quarter panel and is missing its passenger side mirror.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police Troop E in Montville at (860) 848-6500.
