State police: Montville man crashes car into Preston home
Preston — State police in Montville said they charged 23-year-old Christopher M. Johnson with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs Friday after he crashed his car into a house on Branch Hill Road.
Johnson of 48 Leffingwell Road, Montville, was driving south in the area of 118 Branch Hill Road at 8:30 p.m. when his car crossed over into the northbound travel lane, went across the front yard and into the house, "completely penetrating the structure," according to a news release.
Johnson and the two people inside the house were not injured, according to state police. He failed a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest. He also was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane.
He was released on a $500 nonsurety bond and is due Dec. 4 in Superior Court in Norwich.
