Norwich — City fire marshals are investigating the cause of a garbage fire inside 16 Franklin St. early Sunday, firefighters said.
Firefighters said the 2:14 a.m. blaze happened in a room used to store garbage containers and waste. A sprinkler head activated, slowing the growth of the fire.
Although firefighters contained the flames to that room, a common area and two first-floor apartments had some smoke and water damage.
No one was injured.
City records show Thayer Development Group LLC owns the mixed-use, four-story building.
