Voluntown man charged with sexual assault on minor placed in his care by DCF

State police arrested a Voluntown man Thursday on charges he had inappropriate sexual contact with an underage female placed in his care by the state Department of Children and Families.

Glen Coon, 61, of 947 Ekonk Hill Road in Voluntown is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, a felony.

The alleged victim in the case, now 15 years old, claims Coon touched her inappropriately on several occasions after she was placed in the home by DCF in August 2016. She was between the ages of 13 and 14 at the time of the alleged incidents.

Coon is free on a $50,000 bond and due to appear Jan. 18 in Norwich Superior Court.
