New London school employee charged with sex assault makes first court appearance

New London — Middle school paraprofessional Jevon Elmore, charged with second-degree sexual assault, was ordered held Friday in lieu of a $150,000 bond.

Elmore, 25, appeared in New London Superior Court a day after he was arrested by New London police as part of an expanded investigation that has roots in allegations against former middle school climate specialist Corriche Gaskin.

Gaskin, 35, faces a host of felony charges that include the alleged sexual assault of a student at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School.

Details of the allegations against Elmore contained in an arrest warrant affidavit remain sealed from public viewing by a court order.

Elmore, who is also a track coach in the school district, is scheduled to appear June 5 in New London's Part A court, where serious crimes are heard. It is the same date and courthouse where Gaskin is scheduled to appear.
