Stonington — Police have arrested two people following a stabbing during a domestic disturbance at a residence on School Street on Tuesday evening.

Corey J. Novak of 239 Flanders Road was charged with second-degree breach of peace. Paul H. Derderian of 7 School St. was charged with second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

The two men were involved in a verbal altercation that later became physical, police said. Novak got upset during the altercation and grabbed Derderian by the throat. Derderian then grabbed a knife and stabbed Novak in the shoulder, causing a laceration, police said.

Novak was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and was given a summons. Derderian was taken into custody and later released on a $10,000 nonsurety bond.

Both men were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
