Police: Old Lyme man dead after single-car crash
Old Lyme — A one-car motor vehicle accident on Town Woods Road, approximately a tenth of a mile east of Burr Road, about 7 a.m. Saturday morning has left a man dead, state police said.
Police said the vehicle driven by John Leonard, 79, of 250 Hamburg Road, Old Lyme, struck a portion of wire rope guard before striking several trees and stopping about 75 feet down an embankment on the east side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police said they are investigating the accident. The road was expected to be closed in that area for most of the day Saturday.
