Montville man seriously injured after driving moped into pole

Montville — A Montville man driving a moped was seriously injured after he struck a utility pole Saturday morning on Route 32, police said.

Edward Mabe, 31, of 142 Maple Ave., Montville, was the only person riding on the moped and the only person involved in Saturday's accident. Though he was wearing a helmet, police said he suffered serious injuries. He was transported to the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.

Police said the accident is still under investigation.
