UPDATED: New London police seize loaded handgun from juvenile in a car
New London _ Police confiscated a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun and marijuana when they pulled over a car occupied by two juveniles Monday morning.
Police said they pulled over the car with the 16-year-old-boy and a 14-year-old girl at 8:18 a.m. in the area of Connecticut Avenue and Grand Street. Police said the 14-year-old girl was driving.
Police said they seized a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm M&P Shield handgun and marijuana, from the male. The handgun is marketed as a powerful but easy to conceal firearm due to its small size. The male juvenile was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, risk of injury to a minor and possession of marijuana and then transported to the Hartford Juvenile Detention facility. The female juvenile was brought to police headquarters and issued a juvenile summons before being released to her family.
