New London police choose union leadership

New London — The New London Police Union, AFSCME Local 724, announced on Thursday the results of recent elections.

President Todd Lynch was re-elected to a two-year term as president and Chuck Flynn to vice president. Officers include Secretary Dustin Adkins, Treasurer Roger Baker and five executive board members: Darrin O'Mara, Jeffrey Kalolo, Matt Cassiere, Max Bertsch and Luke Delgrosso.

The union reported a 96 percent voter turnout. Lynch and Flynn won their seats by 2 to 1 ratios. Baker and Adkins ran unopposed. Lynch, who will be entering his fifth term as president, is the second-longest serving union president after the late Charles Alloway.

Lynch, in a statement, said he was excited by the vote of confidence by union members and with the makeup of the union leadership. He said he looks forward to continued work with the police administration and mayor's office “for the betterment of both the union and department as an advocate for all our hard-working members of the police union.”

New London Police Union consists of 66 police officers holding the ranks of captain to patrol officer. Only the chief and deputy chief positions are outside of union membership. Elections are held every two years.
