Mother says her missing 12-year-old son stole her SUV, ran away from home in New London
New London — A 12-year-old boy who ran away and stole his mother's SUV has been missing from New London since Sunday, according to his mother and police.
Carlos Roldan Jr., 12, allegedly ran away from home Sunday night and took his mother's silver Ford Explorer, which was found early Thursday morning in Ansonia, his mother, Jaquelyn Luz, said.
This is not the first time Roldan has run away, but he has always come back within 24 hours, according to his mother. Luz last saw her son Sunday night and said he left his cellphone at home.
Police this week issued Silver Alerts for Roldan, who they referred to as an endangered runaway. According to the alert, he was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and blue pajama pants. He is described as a 4-foot-8 Hispanic boy with brown hair and brown eyes and weighs about 89 pounds.
Roldan is likely wearing red Fila sneakers and the sides of his head are shaved. He has a scar near his right eye and another above his lip, his mother said.
Luz took to Facebook on Tuesday asking that anyone who sees her son call New London police. Police also ask anyone with information to contact the department, at (860) 447-5269.
