Elevated bacterial levels have Ledge Light Health District discouraging swimming in waters at Boardwalk Beach in East Lyme and Greens Harbor Beach in New London.

Water samples were collected on Thursday at various beaches in the region and all but those two samples were below what Ledge Light Health District referred to as “a bacterial action levels.”

Further samples were taken at the two beaches on Friday and results are expected by Saturday. Swimming in the waters of Greens Harbor and Boardwalk Beach is discouraged until further notice. The beaches are not closed and Ledge Light said it is not prohibiting swimming, only issuing an advisory discouraging it.
