    Pennsylvania man charged in Norwich robbery

    A man from Pennsylvania was charged Friday in connection to a December robbery that took place in Norwich.

    Kareem Swinton, 19, of Allentown, Pa., was charged Friday with first-degree robbery, criminal possession of a firearm, fifth-degree larceny and illegal possession of weapons in a vehicle, according to the Norwich Police Department.

    On Dec. 27, 2020, police responded to a home in Taftville about 9 p.m. for reports of a robbery. Swinton allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint and stole his cellphone and other items, police said.

    On Feb. 8, police arrested another man in connection with the same robbery.

    Osman Surur, 19, of Norwich was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny and illegal possession of weapons in a vehicle. He was released on a $100,000 bond, according to court records.

    Swinton was extradited from Pennsylvania on Friday and was being held on a $150,000 bond. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday, police said.
